I Caught All (Available) Pokèmon

Achievement unlocked! Sorry, wrong platform. A lifelong achievement of mine since the 151 days was to finish the Pokèdex. As of right now, there are 720 available Pokèmon. I’m aware that there is #721, but it’s not readily available at this moment to the world. So for now, I’m happy to have spent 391 unneeded hours to “catch ’em all”. I trained most of them to level 50, or if their last evolution was past level 50, then to there. That’s why it took longer that it should have, but I wanted to make it feel more worth it than it would be. Would I try to do it again? It’s quite possible I would, but not right now. I’m just going to let the feeling sink in.

Every Facebook App on Google Play

I never noticed how many apps Facebook had in the app store until now. What you see below are my thoughts and experiences with each app and wonder why the app needed to be separate in the first place. Facebook The hub for all your social media needs. Posting, arguing, groups, pages, chat (kind of), liking (not disliking, reactions coming at some point) Messenger Exactly as it says. For some reason Facebook decided it needed to be its own entity and the native Facebook app cannot allow you to chat with your friends. You get asked to download the app to do so. Then if you want to chat with someone through the Facebook app, it inconveniently opens up the Messenger app. Why bother seeing what friends are online in the Facebook app if you can’t use the Facebook app to chat with them? ...

Is Your (Internet) Tone Misinterpreted? Join the Club!

Oh social media. Oh Internet. It’s a problem I see frequently on Facebook, as if Facebook wants to test how we truly know our friends. The things your write. The things your friends write. Did you or they write what you did with THAT tone? I see a lot of posts that seem pretty normal and nicely gestured with the sole purpose of sharing it with people. Then somehow, in some shape or form, minutes later, you see a chain of posts with people arguing about what was just posted. They’re either arguing about what’s shared, or somehow what someone commented was misinterpreted as offensive or something and now they’re arguing about each other’s intentions in their post, rather than talking about the post itself. Why are our posts and comments misinterpreted? This might be a better test of friendship on the Internet than having a “dislike” button. ...

A Series of Notes Summarizing... Learning Perl by Randal L. Schwartz, brian d foy, Tom Phoenix

Hello everyone, I’d to like to present the next document in my Series of Notes. It is based on the book, “Learning Perl” by Randal L. Schwartz, brian d foy, and Tom Phoenix. Perl is a language I look at and use a lot a work and reading this textbook has certainly taught me a lot. I think this summary of the book was a lot more difficult to do as opposed to my last one. It definitely takes a lot of time and focus (also energy) to be able to read and take notes. So some chapters might be a bit dull or show a lack of understanding of certain topics. Hopefully if you’re like me, you’ll do some of the exercises in the book to test your new skills. ...
